The FlourishCafé offers an opportunity for people to come together to engage with their communities, institutions, organisations, politicians, and businesses to explore issues of climate change and sustainability and how to create flourishing communities in the North-West.
The event has been organised by Edge Hill’s Institute for Social Responsibility (ISR) and Eri Mountbatten-O’Malley from Bath Spa University who is leading on a series of FlourishCafés around the country. The Ormskirk event will be held at The Chapel Ormskirk on Thursday 27th April, 2-4pm. Follow this booking link to reserve your place.
ISR Associate Director Dr Victoria Foster said: “The Café has been designed to provide a nourishing space where people can gather to share ideas, connect diverse perspectives, and explore questions that matter. We want to bring local residents together to engage with societal issues in creative, innovative, and engaging ways.”
The FlourishCafé came about through a collaboration between ISR and Eri Mountbatten-O’Malley who studied at Edge Hill University before becoming a Senior Lecturer in Education Policy at Bath Spa University. Eri is passionate about creating opportunities for communities to flourish.
Eri Mountbatten-O’Malley said: “I completed my PhD in Human Flourishing, and it was the insights that I gained from this work that inspired the idea of creating FlourishCafé to provide a space that could provide a catalyst for personal growth, development and positive social change from a grassroots perspective.”
In attendance will be a graphic artist who will capture the discussions and the Tenderfoot Theatre company, created and led by Edge Hill students, who will feed some of the ideas from the discussions into a forthcoming performance.
Discussions from the FlourishCafé will also feed into the Lancashire Community Climate Action Forum taking place at Edge Hill University in May 2023 and involving organisations and local authorities from across the North West.
The Flourish Café project is supported by an AHRC Impact award provided by Bath Spa University.
