The Think Creative Archive Competition was open to both teenagers and adults and entries could be any kind of literary or visual artwork as long as it is inspired by the Edge Hill University Online Archive Showcase.
After receiving an impressive array of entries the judges announced the winners at a prize giving last night and the prizes were awarded in person by Edge Hill’s Vice-Chancellor John Cater. Winners included poetry, paintings, a historical essay and even a poster.
Professor of History Alyson Brown said: “We’ve collected over 135 years of the history of Edge Hill into a unique archive that details our journey from 1885 right up to the present day.
“Now, the art and writings of students and local people will be added to the archive, giving future generations an insight into our lives and talents.”
Archivist Dan Copley added: “The results of the competition have been incredible. The judges have seen a lot of creativity, from inspired poetry to magnificent paintings.
“The range and quality of the winners is breathtaking. Thank you to everyone who submitted an entry and took part. Hopefully they all learnt something about the history of Edge Hill and the communities it is a part of.”

16-18 category

- 2nd Prize – Aida Jilani
18+ category
- 1st Prize – Brontë Crawford
- 2nd Prize – Courteney Baker
- 3rd Prize – Elizabeth Gibson
All the winners can be viewed on the Research Catalyst Website.
Winners received cash prizes of up to £200 and young winners will have up to £100 awarded to their school or college. All winners and runners-up also have the option of visiting the campus and investigating the archive first-hand.
This competition is run by Research Catalyst, with support from the Institute for Creative Enterprise (ICE) and the Institute for Social Responsibility (ISR) at Edge Hill University.
