2024 Spooky Religion

We delivered another highly successful RE Summer School. In total 15 delegates completed the course, of these one was a Geography specialist and one originally a Computing teacher who had recently become Head of RE. They were able to develop their subject knowledge and spend time, with a designated Academic Tutor/Supervisor, but also importantly independently using the time, space and resources of the campus to develop a range of projects. We are confident that this is a most effective way of doing CPD. Highlights of the programme were visits to Stonyhurst College’s Relic collection and a walking ‘ghost tour’ of Liverpool. All delegates reported that they were much more confident to teach about supernatural, spooky aspects of belief in RE. One commented that “It's helped me to see where the supernatural, spooky aspects fit within the 'messiness' of religion and worldviews and to see links between some of these religions and worldviews.” While another stated, “It's made the intangible tangible. I have new lenses in which to see the things I've always taught as well as new ideas.”
