Awarded for three years, Edge Hill University’s full-time GTA studentship scheme is an outstanding opportunity for postgraduate researchers to pursue scholarly work in a variety of academic disciplines. Successful candidates will receive professional research training and gain invaluable teaching experience.

- Full waiver of research degree tuition fees worth approximately £6,350 per annum for UK PGRs and £18,000 per annum for international PGRs.
- Overall payment of £19,237 per annum, which is aligned with the UK Research and Innovation (UKRI) rate.
- General and subject specific research training and supervision.
- The opportunity to complete a Postgraduate Certificate in Teaching in Higher Education with full waiver of the tuition fee (worth approximately £3000).
- Teaching training from the University’s Centre for Learning and Teaching.
- Supported subject specific teaching experience, including mentorship.
- Entitlement to sick pay, maternity, paternity, and shared parental leave, in accordance with University policies and procedures.
- Tailored guidance for pursuing a professional career in academia or industry.
In addition, GTAs can bid to the Graduate School for additional funding towards conference fees when delivering papers or presentations. Our GTAs can also access all aspects of Student Support available across the University. This includes advice and guidance related to accommodation, campus life, faith and community, disability support, money, The Student Support Team, and wellbeing and counselling.
