Our department seeks to make a difference. Delivering research-informed teaching in English Literature, English Language, History, and Creative Writing. We actively engage with public audiences and organisations. Our students are partners in our activities, to the benefit of employability and preparation for life after degrees.
Humanities disciplines like ours have much to contribute to understanding the incredible variety of human experience in the past, present and future, as well as equipping our graduates for their personal and professional development, to contribute to the major issues facing humanity in the 21st century.
The department seeks to develop an active learning community addressing important public, cultural, and social issues.
“The tutors were very enthusiastic and supportive when we were settling in. Staff in the department will always make time for you.”Zoe Grealis, BA History
