The Faculty of Education has a national reputation for the delivery of high quality Initial Teacher Training (ITT) courses across the full range of age phases. Edge Hill University began life in Liverpool in 1885 as the first non-denominational teacher training college for women. From its origins as a specialist institution with 41 female trainee teachers we are now one of the largest providers of teacher training in the United Kingdom.

Working in close partnership with over 2000 schools, colleges and settings throughout the North West of England, we offer innovative initial teacher education and training underpinned by our vision of producing graduates and professionals who are capable, reflective and ethical practitioners distinguished by their intellectual engagement, professional acumen and commitment to the communities in which they work.

Gain eligibility to apply for Approved Dyscalculia Teacher (ATD) status on a specialist programme, accredited by the British Dyslexia Association, which focuses on improving provision in educational settings for learners with dyscalculia.

SpLD (Dyslexia) with AMBDA/ATS

Develop the expertise to enhance provision in educational settings for learners with specific learning difficulties dyslexia on a course accredited by the British Dyslexia Association.

We also offer the Dyslexia Alternative Pathway CPD. This is suitable for all teachers/support staff who have achieved AMBDA status and have access to either post 16 learners or learners under 16. Completing the AMBDA CPD or AMBDA FE/H CPD will allow practitioners to teach and assess learners at the appropriate age range.
