Further Education and Skills
Our Postgraduate Diploma in Teaching (Further Education and Skills) and University Higher Diploma in Teaching (Further Education and Skills) prepares our students for a career in further education teaching.
Delivery is based at our Edge Hill campus here in Ormskirk and at our partner site, Wirral Metropolitan College. Our students benefit from courses that emphasise not just high-quality pedagogy and andragogy, but which prepare them for a career in the sector by looking at the range of learners and provision which further education caters for.
Our Further Education and Skills ITE curriculum is structured around the Faculty of Education’s shared ITE pillars of
- Personal and professional attitudes, values and beliefs.
- Subject and curriculum knowledge.
- The craft of teaching and pedagogy.
Successful completion of your Further Education and Skills course will lead to eligibility to gain QTLS (Qualified Teaching and Learning Status) once you are employed in post.
We also can point to a strong record of developing critical thinking and writing in our graduates, with many of them moving on to Masters and PhD level study following their successful completion of the course.
