Dragged into the Limelight

Dr Mark Edward has been “researching” his identity most of his life, firstly as a young person on a personal journey of self-discovery, then as an academic.
As Reader in Creative Arts he is drawn to the idea of self in research – or “mesearch” as he puts it in his recent anthology mesearch and the performing body, which combines reflections and emotions in relation to himself and his performances.

Edge Hill set for fortnight of entertainment and inspiration

Programmed by Edge Hill’s three Research Institute, the Festival of Ideas is a series of talks, exhibitions and performances featuring famous faces and industry influencers to engage academics, students and members of the public in topical conversations and debates.

Global Dance Ambassador

Bermuda-born Malachi came to the UK in 2011 to study Dance at Edge Hill. With a passion for choreography and performance, he was an inspirational member of EdgeFWD, Edge Hill’s male dance company, and founded the University’s first Hip Hop Society.

Exchanging Dances

Tate Exchange is an ambitious open experiment which allows other organisations and the public to participate in a creative process, running events and projects on-site and using art as a way of addressing wider issues in the world around us.

Professional Edge

As a founding member of Edge Hill’s successful EdgeFWD dance company, Connor co-created and toured A Beautiful Hell culminating in a week-long run at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival.

Setting the stage

When Helen successfully applied for the Youth Dance Ambassador Placement at The Lowry Theatre, she knew that she wanted to pursue a career within the dance industry.

Edging Forward onto the dance scene

Tom embraced the opportunity to begin his career in dance whilst still studying. His commitment to his course and extra-curricular studies with the dance group EdgeFWD led to an early breakthrough in the professional dance scene.

Cultural collaborations

A late night at the library ignited the careers of Edge Hill Dance students and alumni. Following successful auditions, 17 current and former members of Edge FWD and 3rd Edge were selected to work with Company Chameleon on their site specific dance project Illuminate.
