This module will allow participants to focus on a specific issue or topic of relevance to their educational role as healthcare professionals, within their own workplace. The precise focus of each student’s work will be the subject of an individual Learning Agreement, which is to be created with the support of a tutor and agreed by the Faculty NLAP Panel prior to, or at the start of, the module.

Who is this module for?
Any practicing healthcare professional.
What are the key aims of the module?
- To improve an aspect of one’s own practice in clinical education.
- By conducting a small scale project, or narrower aspect of a larger project.
- By writing a critically reflective report about the process and/or outcomes, which engages with peer reviewed literature.
How will I study?
This module is normally studied over three sessions. The module overall takes 16 weeks.
What will I study?
- Individually focused on an aspect of practice in the field of clinical education.
- Students are encouraged to choose an area of inquiry or intervention that will potentially enhance their own practice in the field of clinical education.
- The focus must be of a much smaller-scale than work conducted for a dissertation).
- Proposed focus/content will be the subject of an agreed, individual Learning Agreement at the start of the module.
How will I be assessed?
The completion of a Learning Agreement to be considered and approved by the Faculty NLAP Panel, prior to, or at the start of module studies.
A critically reflective report on their workplace-based learning project, identifying the outcomes of the intervention, enquiry or innovation and their own learning, reflecting on the process they have undertaken, and relating their project to the wider theoretical and research literature. 4000 words. ILOs 1,2 & 3.
On successful completion you will:
- Work autonomously within the bounds of professional practice to plan and conduct an inquiry, intervention or innovation relating to your own education practice and to communicate findings between peers.
- Critically appraise your inquiry, intervention or innovation in practice in relation to existing knowledge, literature, and wider concerns in clinical education.
- Critically reflect on the process you have undertaken, and justify and evaluate your chosen methodology, approach or intervention.

Module availability varies from year to year and will be subject to minimum student numbers being achieved. Places will be allocated on a first come first served basis. Due to the popularity of some modules it may be that the module is fully booked when your application is received.
