- Enhance your business and entrepreneurial skills to support your career development;
- Discuss and develop a strategic business proposal or an alternative management project in a structured environment;
- Engage with and respond to complex real world problems, in a wide range of organisational contexts, while developing expertise in qualitative and quantitative analysis.
This Postgraduate Certificate is designed to enhance the employability of graduates from a wide range of disciplines through the development of skills in enterprise and entrepreneurship. You will develop your understanding of management, as well as analysis techniques, via the use of structured in-depth case studies. This guided learning provides the basis for undertaking a bespoke project based around either a new business venture or solving an existing management problem in an organisation that you are familiar with. Whether you are seeking employment opportunities at graduate level or looking to start your own business, this programme will enable you to demonstrate and evidence your ability to look at complex management issues and provide innovative and effective solutions.
What will I study?
The programme identifies the key essential qualities of leadership and management, enabling you to place the subject skills from your degree into a business or employment context.
It will immerse you in business planning, identify strategic level employment competences and provide examples to assist with gaining employment or self-employment.
Using case studies, you will look at the complex issues facing organisations before identifying, analysing and providing a solution to a management challenge of your own choice.
How will I study?
The programme is delivered using a ‘day school’ model where there will be seven full days of sessions, with additional support provided via our virtual learning environment.
How will I be assessed?
You will be assessed through a combination of business reports that provide analysis of real world case studies, as well as presentations and the development of a strategic business plan.
Who will be teaching me?
The programme draws on the experience of academic staff in the Business School who have expertise covering a range of areas from accountancy to digital marketing to operations management. A different subject specialist will deliver each aspect of the course. In addition, you will be paired with a mentor who has a specialism that is relevant to the theme of your individual project.
