  • Professional Skills in Engineering

Ray Sheriff is a Professor and Associate Head of Engineering.
Ray graduated from the University of Leeds in 1986 with a BEng Honours Degree in Electrical and Electronic Engineering. Upon graduation, he worked in the satellite communications industry as a Systems Engineer for four and a half years. Ray joined the University of Bradford as a lecturer in 1991 and was appointed Professor of Electronic Engineering in 2002. Following almost twenty-seven years at Bradford, Ray spent just shy of two years as a Professor at University of Bolton, prior to joining Edge Hill University at the start of 2021. Ray holds Honorary Visiting Professor roles at Beijing University of Chemical Technology and Sichuan University, China.
Ray’s research interests are in telecommunications engineering and how information and communications technology may be used for the benefit of society. He regularly publishes in leading peer-reviewed journals and international conferences. He is a Fellow of the Institution of Engineering and Technology and is registered with Engineering Council UK as a Chartered Engineer.
