Bio

Georgios is a senior lecturer in Computer Science at Edge Hill University. His research interests lie in the intersection of text mining, natural language processing and machine learning. He has been conducting research on automatic acquisition of lexical and terminological resources for different languages and domains, interoperability of text mining infrastructures, text classification, topic modelling and learning representation techniques. The output of his research has found a number of applications including semantic search, automation of systematic reviews and machine translation.

Before joining Edge Hill University, Georgios spent 6 years at the National Centre for Text Mining, University of Manchester where he obtained an MSc and a PhD in computer science and was subsequently employed as a post-doctoral research fellow. At NaCTeM, he worked on various research projects including an MRC-funded project that aimed to support the development of evidence-based public health reviews using state of the art text mining methods.
