Every May students, employers and staff gather in the Tech Hub for the Computer Science department’s End of Year Showcase.
Over the course of the day, researchers and students present a selection of project work, showcase achievements using state-of-the-art facilities on a variety of extra-curricular challenges, for example developing games using AR/VR Technology and Tech Hub challenges demonstrating robots interactions.
Within the showcase there is an opportunity for students to engage with employers via round-table discussions.
In 2018, we had our first STEM challenge fusing expertise of Computer Science and Biology using the CAVE to visualise Metabolic Pathways. We also welcomed our Women in STEM committee. During the course of the event we held a series of presentations from our PHD, Graduate Teaching Assistants and members of staff illustrating their research projects.
Awards were presented to the winners of the Tech Hub and STEM Challenges and also for best BSc and Masters in Computer science final year project along with certificates of recent achievement with extracurricular qualifications including SAS, Unity and Microsoft.
