Employer & Industry Support

Core to the Enterprise and Employability strategies of the Department of Computer Science is our engagement with business and external organisations. We’re interested in collaborative working relationships that see benefits for all parties; businesses, ourselves and our students.

We have a range of support options which can assist with your recruitment and training needs or for the delivery of specific operational and strategic projects:

Knowledge Transfer Partnerships

For collaborative projects which can demonstrate high levels of innovation, research and development, the Dept. can access national and regional funding streams to support their delivery. As a Dept. we have a variety of specialisms where we can offer expertise, particularly in the fields of data analysis, distributed technologies, security, cloud computing and web.

Enterprise Projects Team & Web Factory

For practical expertise on software, database and web development builds, networking and security projects, the Dept. combines the skills of our academic staff and best performing students to deliver practical developments projects for local businesses, charities and social enterprises.

Student placements; sandwich placements or shorter placements

To support flexible talent management for business, our students are encouraged to undertake placement opportunities throughout their studies. Sandwich placements in particular are growing in popularity amongst employers as a way of bringing talent into the business and identifying future graduate employees.

We have a dedicated team of business support professionals on hand to work with you to identify your needs and advise on the appropriate course of action; bringing together the right academics, students and resources.

Opportunities to collaborate arise from all sorts of circumstances and we encourage and maintain regular, good quality dialogue with our business partners to ensure that these opportunities are taken advantage of; please do get in touch.
