Making progress towards his desired career as a Test Engineer whilst studying at Edge Hill was a real advantage for Alex.

Alex was able to introduce himself to representatives of the ROQ software company at the 2017 Computer Science Careers Fair, which resulted in his employment as a Tester within their Test Automation team. The combination of social and technical skills that he perfected whilst at Edge Hill made him invaluable to the projects that he works on, and as a result he has been able to undertake a career move to the BBC where he has a key role updating his teams’ technology knowledge and usage.

Alex recently joined the BBC’s Children’s Design and Engineering Department as a Tester for the Games Team. His role involves testing games delivered through web and mobile apps for CBBC and CBeebies audiences. His new challenge involves writing testing programmes, enabling the smooth transition from manual testing, and using new technologies in automation testing.

“Make the most of the opportunities the University provides, especially if they are in-line with the career path you are aiming for. Showing interest in the subject and eagerness to develop further is a big positive from an employer’s point of view.”
