BSc (Hons) Computing, 2015
After impressing his future employer at a Computer Science careers fair, Mark Corke secured a job with global banking firm Barclays, and is now part of the team helping to recruit new Edge Hill University graduates.
Mark attributes his success in part to the excellent opportunities available to him while at Edge Hill. As well as providing him with thorough subject knowledge and the ability to articulate himself well in a team environment, he also worked part-time as a Web Developer in the University’s Enterprise Department, which allowed him to gain invaluable skills, enhancing his employability. Edge Hill’s connections with Barclays allowed him to also take part in the Barclays Technology Challenge which convinced him that he wanted to work for the company after graduation.
Mark now works as a Retail Online Banking Designer for Barclays, liaising with developers on the technical specifications of each project. Alongside his main role, Mark also undertakes a variety of other activities including careers events at Edge Hill, helping with the Barclays Technology Challenge and monthly Robotic Challenge events, as well as being an Ambassador for the new CoLab experience at Barclays.
“Edge Hill’s graduate fairs played a key role in securing my interest for Barclays, as they gave me the chance to voice my interest and establish myself with potential employers.”
