Edge Hill University’s Taught Degrees Framework is a set of guiding principles for the design of all undergraduate and taught postgraduate awards validated by the University. Working within the credit structures defined within Academic Regulations the Framework is essentially ‘enabling, yet constraining’; enabling, in that it signposts available guidance and best practice for effective curriculum design; but also constraining, in that course teams are required to engage with a series of ‘lenses’ containing essential questions about teaching and learning, assessment and student support that underpin the University’s processes for assuring academic standards and teaching quality. In addition to alignment with the Academic Regulations and other University policies and procedures the Framework is also consistent with the relevant external reference points, most notably the Quality Assurance Agency’s UK Quality Code for Higher Education which includes the Frameworks for Higher Education Qualifications, subject benchmark statements, degree characteristics statements and higher education credit framework for England.
The Taught Degrees Framework contains a series of ‘Lenses’ focused on the student experience:

- Induction and Transition
- Learning, Teaching and Assessment
- Education for Personal Development and Enhancement
- Global Citizenship
