Study China 2020

The Study China programme is now accepting applications for their 2020 programme.

If you are interested in spending three weeks in China and living at a leading Chinese university, then this is the ideal opportunity for you. For full details about the programme, visit the Study China website.

Study China will fund your accommodation, tuition, airport-transfer and organised excursions. Study China runs during the summer, and is separate from your degree. You can check out eligibility criteria here.

During the programme, you will complete an intensive Chinese Mandarin course designed to develop your written and spoken language skills, as well as cultural classes, trips, and excursions. Classes are available for all abilities, ranging from absolute beginners through to advanced speakers.

Study China 2020 will be hosted at the following Chinese Universities:

  • Beijing Normal University (Beijing)
  • East China Normal University (Shanghai)
  • Zhejiang University (Hangzhou)

When will the programme run?:

The course will run for three weeks, from Sunday 2 August 2020 until Saturday 22 August.

How do I apply?

Applications are completed online via the Study China website. Applications for this opportunity are competitive. Therefore, we strongly advise that prior to making an application, you book an appointment with one of our Employment Advisers, who can support you to put together the strongest application possible. Alternatively, you can send your draft application through to Careers for feedback via Ask a Question.

Applications are open until Friday 7th February 2020, which allows plenty of time to work with Careers on writing your application. Study China have also put together a very helpful applications tips page, which will help you start to put your application together.

Can I apply for funding to cover the cost of flights, VISA and travel insurance?

Yes, you can. If you are offered a place on the Study China programme, you will be eligible to apply for funding to cover the additional costs of flights, VISA and travel insurance via the Student Opportunity Fund. Last year, all Edge Hill students who were offered a place on the Study China programme were granted funding via the SOF.

All funding provided by the SOF will be subject to a successful application, and we strongly advise that you seek the support of the Careers team with completing your application for funding. Again, you can send your application to us for feedback via Ask a Question, or book an appointment for support.

Feedback from previous Edge Hill Study China participants:

“The study China program has that
perfect study to travel ratio. You don’t
feel like you are studying, you are
immersing yourself in Chinese culture.”
– James, Business School student

“Visiting the Great Wall of China was an amazing experience – I feel so lucky to have walked one of the Wonders of the World!”
– Charlotte, Secondary Education with QTS student
