As part of the development of Employability and professional practice, Edge Hill students from the Business School are often given an opportunity to undertake live client projects for local and national businesses. As part of a retail marketing module, Second year marketing students have been working with local businesses to help them promote their businesses. As part of this work, students visited business owner Gary O’Brien from O’Brien’s tea room on Park Road, Ormskirk. During the visit, students discussed with the owner his business and operating model.

Students will then work in groups to develop retail marketing plans and the best two will be passed onto the company to consider and hopefully help him grow his new business further.

Joan Pearson, senior lecturer in marketing who runs the module notes that “This has given the students an opportunity to complete their first live project and to make a contribution to their local University town”.
