Second year Accountancy students considering sandwich placements and graduate careers received a visit from RSM Tenon staff members.

Amy Ostridge explained how RSM Tenon’s graduate scheme provides a good mixture of practical experience and support for gaining professional qualifications such as chartered accountant status. Furthermore she discussed how undertaking summer work placements or a sandwich year can provide benefits to students trying to enter the highly competitive financial services sector.

The students were also introduced to Nathan, a recent university graduate who had benefited from taking a sandwich placement with the organisation. After spending a year working in their auditing department, he is now employed as a trainee accountant and currently studying for his ACCA qualifications. Nathan talked about his experience as a recent graduate and gave tips onto how best to impress at the interview and selection stage.

As part of their studies, BSc Accountancy students are regularly visited by members of professional accountancy bodies or other relevant professionals. The intention is to help prepare them for the transition from student to successful professional.
