Brenden Beckett

Brenden Beckett started at Edgehill University in 2014 as an undergraduate on the BSc Biology programme. He took part in an Erasmus+ programme in Umeå, Sweden at Sveriges Lantbruksuniversitet (Swedish University of Agricultural Sciences) where he completed the collection of spiders for his dissertation alongside working as a research intern. This involved setting up long-term projects for the Swedish University, collating and organising data and site selection for work carried out that year.

During his time at Edge Hill University, he has made great links with the local wildlife group who elected him student representative on the council. He also completed an internship at Edge Hill University working on the spider reference collection and sample sorting as a research intern.

Since then he has moved on to the MRes Biology researching tree diversity impacts on spiders in southern France, including climate change. This is a collaborative project with the Institut national de la recherche agronomique (French National Institute for Agricultural Research) or INRA for short who are a leader in agricultural research.
