Redesign your favourite book cover
As part of our Big Read initiative, Edge Hill University partnered with West Lancashire Borough Council’s Arts Development Service to run a ‘Design a Book Cover’ competition. Having received over 100 entries from around the region, the designs are being exhibited at the Chapel Gallery Café, St Helens Road, Ormskirk.
Congratulations to members of our Edge Hill community. Helen Hughes in Academic Registry was awarded First Runner Up in the competition with an amazing interpretation of Arthur Golden’s book Memoirs of a Geisha. Naomi Horne, a 2nd year English Language student placed as Second Runner Up with her artwork of Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban, and Jennie Owen from Careers was commended for her entry of Watership Down.
The winning piece was a fantastic entry of the book Charlie and the Chocolate Factory by Sophie Eastham, aged 13.
A further winner is to be decided, as a Visitors Vote is open to anyone visiting the Gallery. The visitors’ winner will receive a signed copy of Eleanor Oliphant is Completely Fine, the Big Read’s current book, and will be awarded a £50 prize. The exhibition will be running until the 29th June 2019.
Big Read biggest group photo
This week is the official launch of our latest Big Read competition. This time, we’re challenging you to take the biggest Big Read group photo you can manage!
Grab some friends and your copy of the book and post your photo on Facebook, Twitter or Instagram to be in with a chance of winning the VIP treatment at a Christmas film screening in December, including front row seats and free pizza and a drink beforehand.
To be eligible to win, everyone in your photo needs to be an Edge Hill student and holding a copy of the book. Make sure that you use #EHUBigRead in your post too!
Entries must be submitted by midnight on Sunday, 18th November. Please see full the terms and conditions before entering.
The Big Read at Home!
We’re giving away a Polaroid Snap instant digital camera to one lucky person who has received the Big Read book as part of the EHU Big Read.
To enter, simply take a photo of your book at home and share it on social media using the Big Read hashtag #EHUBigRead.
You can be as creative as you like with your entry.
