We believe that success starts with both inspiration and opportunity. That’s why we’ve invested over 350m in our award-winning campus to provide you with outstanding facilities, rated 3rd in the UK by students on WhatUni (2023).

The University’s Arts and Humanities provision encompasses courses in Dance, Drama and Musical Theatre, English, Creative Writing, Film, Media and Broadcast Production, History, Geography and Geology, Politics and International Relations, Criminology, and Social Sciences. Most courses can be studied as a joint honours degree so you can study two subjects at the same time. Facilities include:

  • The Arts Centre – offering dance studios, black box drama studios, theatre and costume construction workshops, a recital room and an outdoor amphitheatre
  • Geoscience building featuring a large lecture theatre, small group teaching spaces and a large social area for interactive learning
  • Creative Edge – home to high-definition television studios with broadcast and production capabilities, including vision mixers and sound mixing suites
  • a mooting room and Police Training and Simulation Facility, which simulates a range of crime scenes
  • contemporary seminar rooms, IT facilities, individual workstations, group study spaces and access to a 24/7 library.

My passion is radio. I’ve hosted shows on hospital radio, and had some fantastic opportunities to develop my presenting skills and build up industry contacts….Getting that first foot in the door from Edge Hill has really helped.

I didn’t think I would be making props out of recycled materials or dyeing costumes with onions. Sustainable theatre was something I’d never had the chance to explore before.

I really enjoyed the Time Detectives module where you learn how to investigate online archives, conduct oral history interviews, and use software. Loads of interesting stuff came out of that module.
