The Validation and Audit Sub-Committee (VASC) is responsible to Edge Hill’s Academic Quality Enhancement Committee for the development, operation and evaluation of the University’s validation, periodic review and internal audit processes. VASC is supported by a Standing Panel of qualified and experienced academic and academic-related support staff who are assigned to individual validation, review and audit panels. Panels are responsible for ensuring that new and existing provision meets nationally-defined standards, complies with the University’s own regulations and provides an appropriate quality of learning opportunities for students. Annual Staff Conference
The 2019 Conference of the VASC Standing Panel took place on Tuesday 10th September and provided the opportunity for members to come together and exchange ideas and practice in relation to curriculum development, approval and review. In addition to updates on national quality regulation and Edge Hill’s own quality assurance procedures, members also received presentations on recent institutional projects on developing students’ Assessment Literacy and supporting students of Combined Honours programmes, both of which will inform future discussions with course teams at validation and periodic review. Separate breakout discussions were also held for panel members and chairs, and the conference presentations are available here: https://www.edgehill.ac.uk/aqdu/files/2019/09/Combined-Standing-Panel-conference-presentations-12Sep19.pdf.
