Student Academic Representatives
The University’s Student Representation System is owned and managed by the Edge Hill Students’ Union (EHSU) and is central to promoting the partnership of staff and students in enhancing the learner experience. Student representatives are recruited at the start of the academic year in September with a view to taking up their roles in October. In addition to representation at course level through membership of programme boards and student-staff consultative forums, students also serve on most Faculty and University committees as well as on programme validation and periodic review panels. National Student Survey
The National Student Survey (NSS) is an independent survey of final year undergraduates which enables them to rate the quality of their degree courses. Individual responses are anonymous, however Higher Education providers including Edge Hill University use general feedback from the survey to help assure and improve the quality of teaching and learning. Prospective students also access NSS data to inform their choice of course and provider. NSS 2020 is now open (closing date 30th April 2020) and eligible students will receive an email invitation containing a personalised link or may access the survey directly at www.thestudentsurvey.com.
‘Student Pulse Survey’
First and second year students of Edge Hill’s undergraduate degree programmes complete a short internal survey, distributed electronically, at the middle and end of each semester which enables staff to consider and respond to issues raised by students at programme and module level. Alternative surveys are provided for students on postgraduate degree programmes and students on placement. Surveys are open for a period of one to two weeks with feedback to students within four weeks (‘You Said, We Listened’).
