“Last year I had the chance to work as a Research Assistant to one of the academics in the department, funded by the Student Opportunity Fund. I spent all summer in the lab looking at lake sediment cores to find evidence of past volcanic eruptions – and I couldn’t have been happier. It was so exciting to be part of some genuine research. I’m Rebecca and am currently in my first year studying Geoenvironmental Hazards. I live on campus providing me with access to amazing facilities. I’ve settled in great and have been able to make some friends already from my flat mates to course mates. I’ve been able to join multiple societies allowing me to experience even more at my time at university.
