Our teaching and student learning is informed by our cutting-edge, internationally recognised research and industry links.

What’s next? It’s your Offer Holder Day.

It’s time to book your place.

Take part in a taster session, meet your tutors and find out more from our students. You can also tour the campus, view accommodation and make friends with your future classmates.

Discover Engineering

A four-screen CAVE (Computer Augmented Virtual Environment) provides a super immersive 3D virtual environment, enabling users to immerse themselves in a virtual room and experience real life scenarios in 4K resolution.

The Tech Hub is home to big data servers, programmable child-sized robots, transparent touchscreen monitors, and interactive teaching screens.

Artificial intelligence and robots

Edge Hill University’s Dr Ardhendu Behera, from the Computer Science Department, is leading a project to build pioneering robots to help monitor and care for older people, patients and autistic children.

A team of students have spent the summer teaching Robbie, a toddler sized robot, to recognise 90 common objects as well as human actions and emotions.

Engineer your future

In 1991, when the World Wide Web was still in its infancy and digital mobile phones first began to appear on the streets, I started research on the third generation of mobile satellite and cellular networks – better known as 3G. I travelled all around Europe working on 3G, 4G and 5G – seeing the impact my own research and work, and that of thousands of other highly-skilled engineers, was having on a global scale. Currently, I’m working on researching the next generation – the 6G network.

That’s one of the things I love about electrical engineering, innovation never stops and you really can grow with the subject, and that’s what makes it so exciting.

What’s going on in the department?

A national campaign to develop the next generation of engineers, supported by Edge Hill University, will be showcased on the world stage at the COP26 summit.

The University has joined forces with not-for-profit organisation Primary Engineer and its ‘If You Were an Engineer, What Would You Do?’ competition, to encourage children and young people to consider a career in STEM (science, technology, engineering and mathematics).

Each year, the competition sees tens of thousands of young people identify problems – large and small – and design engineering solutions to solve them.

The results from the competition will be presented as part of an exhibition during COP26, the annual United Nations climate change summit, on 7 November in Glasgow.

Come and join us in a dynamic and supportive environment of high quality scholars and students. Hear from our students about what they have got up to on their degree, what facilities are available and what being an Edge Hill student is really like.

Computing and Information Technology student Calvin

Not many students get the opportunity to go and work in another country straight out of university but, thanks to the opportunities at Edge Hill, I’m ready for it.

My favourite thing about my course is that it’s mostly hands-on and code-based practical tasks, which allows me to dive into programming to solve the task at hand.

My degree has given me multiple opportunities that I would not have received otherwise. I would not have been able to achieve my goals without the Fastrack programme at Edge Hill University.

The community at Edge Hill is very accepting. I was nervous about starting university, however after I met my teachers and found my friends, there’s no place I’d rather be.

Artificial Intelligence can only grow in the future as it becomes more and more a part of our lives. There will be an increasing demand for people with skills and understanding of robotics and AI.

Before I applied, I thought clearing was for the purpose of just potentially getting a place at university. That there was a slight chance that you would get a place only if there were still places available. It came to be that it took less than a few days from applying for the course to being enrolled on the course, and a day or so after I got a place to live on campus too.
