Things to get involved in on campus

The Students’ Union

While most of your time will be focused on studying, university is a place where you can develop all aspects of yourself. Whether that’s learning a new language, joining a society or sports club, or spending a year studying abroad, the SU is the place to go to find out what’s on offer. Once you’ve enrolled, you will be invited to activate your SU account. This will open up a wealth of opportunities, including joining societies, student networks, and interacting with the SU Welcome Fair, either online or in person.

Clubs and societies

As a member of a society you’ll get to meet like-minded people, make new friends and enrich your student experience by getting involved. The Students’ Union manages over 60 diverse and dynamic societies adding an element of fun to student-led activities on campus. Societies cover everything from book clubs to maintaining an eco garden, to all things Marvel and Harry Potter, as well as active pursuits such as climbing and mountaineering, so you’re sure to find something to inspire you.

Student Opportunity Fund

This is an exciting initiative which contributes financial support that helps you to take part in activities which enhance your employability, build your confidence and develop your transferable skills.

If eligible, you can apply for up to £2,000 to support a career-enhancing project, initiative or opportunity that will enrich your student experience and enable you to stand out in a competitive environment.
