In recent years, there has been an increasing demand from academic staff for more advice and training around how to support students with a variety of issues, including mental health, disability and inclusion, money advice and sexual violence disclosures.
In response to this Student Services and HR have collaborated to create the new post of Academic Support and Training Officer. The ASTO will be delivering and procuring training for staff around supporting students, as well as developing online toolkit resources to provide information and guidance to staff around how to support students and when to refer them to specialist services.
The Online Toolkits will support staff to support students in a range of areas, including mental health, disability, sexual violence, bullying and harassment, and special advice for students who may have additional barriers, such as care leavers. The Mental Health toolkit is the first to be launched and you can access it via: ehu.ac.uk/SSSSToolkits.
Mental Health Awareness Workshops are now available for staff and are bookable via the Learning and Development wiki and My View. Departments can also request bespoke training by contacting Corryn.Brown@edgehill.ac.uk.
