Students Taking Action for Success (STAS)
- Not sure which direction you want to head in after school or college?
- Need a bit of help with revision and study?
- Want to make some new friends and have fun along the way?
Based at Edge Hill University, STAS can help you help yourself to new experiences, choices and provide you with a wealth of support with school, college and beyond.
STAS – Students Taking Action for Success – is aimed at young people in care who have the ability to go on to university. The project works with Year 9 to 13 students on a variety of areas such as study skills, revision techniques, careers, UCAS forms… to name just a few. All of our sessions are out of school hours so it won’t affect school or college commitments; in fact, we’re confident that it will enhance your current studies and give you a real taste of student life.
There's plenty of opportunities to relax and socialise too, with trips off campus to outdoor pursuits centres, bowling and much more - all totally free. All you have to do is turn up and join in!
New for 2011/12: STAS (plus)
STAS (plus) will work directly with year 12 and 13 students in care or who have left care. It will focus on progression to university - finance issues, application guidance, what to expect, studying at university.
