Widening Participation

Edge Hill's Widening Participation team run programmes and co-ordinate initiatives throughout the University aiming to raise awareness of choices and opportunities in higher education.

The department offers:

  • Fastrack Courses - designed to give adults an intensive preparation for Higher Education, equipping you with the skills and knowledge required for entry to an Edge Hill University degree;
  • Equivalency Tests - ideal if you don't possess the desired GCSEs or level 2 qualifications required for your course. Equivalency courses in GCSE maths, English and science are available along with standalone tests in the same GCSE subjects and level 2 literacy and numeracy;
  • Students Taking Action for Success (STAS) - aimed at young people in care who have the ability to go on to university, the project works with Year 9 to 13 students on a variety of areas such as study skills, revision techniques, careers, UCAS forms etc;
  • Bespoke Activities and Project Work - for young people and adults, ranging from campus visits to study support.
