Fees and Finance: Full-Time Undergraduate Students 2012/13

Please note, this information is for prospective UK students joining full-time undergraduate programmes at Edge Hill University between September 2012 and August 2013.

For information on tuition fee arrangements and financial support for pre-registration health courses, visit www.edgehill.ac.uk/prereghealth2012. For information on full-time top-up degrees / progression routes, visit www.edgehill.ac.uk/topupfees2012.

Fees, Grants and Loans 2012 Entry

Eligible students will not have to pay up-front for their tuition. The cost of tuition will be paid by a loan which students will only start to repay once they have left their course and are earning over £21,000.

From Autumn 2012, Edge Hill University will charge £9,000 for full-time BA, BSc and LLB degrees. Exceptions may apply for progression routes - see the relevant section below for information.

Full-time students who are studying for their first degree or other higher education course can benefit from a range of financial support. (Please note the following figures have been issued by the Government and may be subject to change.)

No Upfront Costs

  • You don't have to pay for your course yourself upfront;
  • You can get a loan to cover the cost of your tuition, which you only start to pay back when you are earning over £21,000 a year.

Loans for Living Costs

  • Available to help with living costs such as food, accommodation and travel;
  • A loan of up to £5,500 will be available if you live away from home and study outside London (e.g. at Edge Hill University);
  • A loan of up to £4,375 will be available if you live with your parents.

Non-Repayable Grants

  • Available to help with living costs such as food, accommodation and travel;
  • If your household income is up to £25,000 you will be entitled to a full grant, of £3,250, which you won't have to pay back;
  • If your household income is between £25,000 and £42,600 you would be entitled to a grant of between £50 and £3,250, which you won't have to pay back.

Scholarships

Edge Hill University offers a range of scholarships for prospective full-time students. These include £2,000 Entrance Scholarships rewarding determination, commitment and achievement in creative arts, performing arts, sport and volunteering. Eligible entrants with outstanding grades are recognised through the £1,000 High Achievers Scholarship.

The University will also be offering awards, worth £3,000 in cash benefits and fee/accommodation waivers for academic year 2012/13, to eligible prospective full-time students through the National Scholarship Programme.

Visit www.edgehill.ac.uk/scholarships for more information.

BA (Hons) Social Work Bursary

In addition to the financial support outlined above, eligible students on Edge Hill University's accredited BA (Hons) Social Work degree are entitled to an NHS funded bursary of £4,575pa which can be used to pay fees and other expenses.

This bursary is non-income assessed, in other words the amount you receive does not depend on an assessment of your family income. The bursary does not normally need to be repaid.

The NHS Business Services Authority (NHSBSA) administers these bursaries on behalf of the Department of Health. For the latest information, see www.ppa.org.uk/swb.

Care Leavers' Bursary

Care leavers on any full-time undergraduate programme are eligible for an additional bursary of £750 per annum.

Helena Kennedy Foundation Bursary

The University is also sponsoring four £1,500 bursaries for disadvantaged students through the Helena Kennedy Foundation. If you've suffered hardship, illness or challenging circumstances, for example extreme financial difficulty, bereavement, bullying, coping with dyslexia or a disability, you may be eligible for this award. For more information on the Helena Kennedy Foundation, visit www.hkf.org.uk.

Full-Time Professional Development Courses

Please note, the above fees and financial support information does not apply to full-time professional development programmes in BSc (Hons) International Midwifery Studies or BSc (Hons) International Nursing Studies. See the course information for details of module costs for these programmes.

Deferred Entry

Please note, for students deferring entry to Edge Hill University, the tuition fee and financial support arrangements applicable are those which prevail in the year of entry and not the time of an offer or acceptance of a place.

Previous Study

Please note, previous higher education study may limit your eligibility for funding. You cannot normally hold a qualification at the same or higher level than the one for which you intend to study and be eligible for funding.

EU Students

Tuition fees for EU students are the same amount as those for UK students.

If you are an EU national and you have been living in the European Economic Area (EEA) and/or Switzerland for three years before your course begins, you are probably eligible for a tuition fee loan meaning the course does not have to be paid for upfront. You may also be eligible to apply for additional financial support, depending on your individual circumstances.

For further information on the financial support available to EU students, visit www.ukcisa.org.uk.

Overseas Students

See www.edgehill.ac.uk/internationalfees2012 for information on tuition fees for international students in academic year 2012/13.
