Some countries may provide financial assistance to their students who choose to study overseas. You should contact your own government's education ministry to check this. The British Council can also provide advice on external sources of funding and sponsorship that you may be eligible to apply for.
Living Costs
You will also need to budget for your living expenses and books. It is much less expensive to live in the North West than London or South East England, but you should still budget £5,500-£6,000 per year for living expenses although this will vary from person to person.
Free Insurance
Free insurance covering health and possessions is available. Included within the free insurance package is coverage of personal effects, personal liability, personal injury and emergency medical treatment, while you live and travel within England, Scotland and Wales. It does not cover additional travel outside of these countries. It should be noted that medical care in the policy is provided by the UK National Health Service and not a private healthcare provider.
Pre-existing medical conditions, pregnancy and childbirth are not covered.
