Fees and Finance: Part Time Foundation Degree Students 2012/13

Please note, this information is for prospective UK students joining part-time foundation degrees at Edge Hill University between September 2012 and August 2013.

Tuition Fees and Loans

Eligible students will not have to pay up-front for their tuition. The cost of tuition will be paid by a loan which students will only start to repay once they have left their course and are earning over £21,000 a year.

Tuition fees for part-time foundation degree students are £50 per credit for academic year 2012/13, i.e. £500 per 10 credit module, £750 per 15 credit module, £1,000 per 20 credit module, £1,500 per 30 credit module and £3,000 per 60 credit module. A total of 240 credits are required to complete a foundation degree.

An alternative fee structure will apply for part-time study on FdA Early Years Leadership, FdA Early Years Practice and FdA Professional Development, with fees of £6,000pa for academic year 2012/13. However, as with other foundation degrees, eligible students on these foundation degrees will not have to pay up-front for their tuition and will only start to repay the tuition fee loan once they have left their course and are earning over £21,000 a year.

Employer Support

You may want to consider talking to your employer about what help they can offer to support you in your studies. Some employers make a financial contribution to the tuition costs of a part-time higher education qualification. Employers can pay all or part of your part-time tuition fees upfront. You can then apply for the amount of loan you require to make up the balance. Please note, however, that employers cannot take out a Tuition Fee Loan on your behalf.

Previous Study

Please note, previous higher education study may limit your eligibility for funding. You cannot normally hold a qualification at the same or higher level than the one for which you intend to study and be eligible for funding.

Deferred Entry

Please note, for students deferring entry to Edge Hill University, the tuition fee and financial support arrangements applicable are those which prevail in the year of entry and not the time of an offer or acceptance of a place.

EU Students

Tuition fees for EU students are the same amount as those for UK students.

If you are an EU national and you have been living in the European Economic Area (EEA) and/or Switzerland for three years before your course begins, you are probably eligible for a tuition fee loan meaning the course does not have to be paid for upfront.

For further information on the financial support available to EU students, visit www.ukcisa.org.uk.
