Finding Your Place
When allocating accommodation in our halls of residence, priority is given to care leavers, disabled students with additional requirements, students in receipt of a National Scholarship Programme award and international students.
Whilst we can't guarantee accommodation for all first years or people who live within a certain distance of the University, we do offer a fair chance of securing one of the 1,000+ rooms available and provide assistance in finding off-campus accommodation.
Allocation of Rooms
- The accommodation application form will go live on 7th March 2012 via Think Edge Hill for applicants who have firmly accepted the offer of a place. You can apply at any time between 12noon on Wednesday 7th March and Sunday 20th May 2012;
- On-site accommodation has increased substantially over the last two years but, if the University finds that campus accommodation is over-subscribed, applications will be prioritised to take into account various factors including the distance from the student's home address to the University.
Please note that we cannot guarantee that all students will be offered a room in their first choice of hall. The allocation of rooms will be announced when the A-level results come out. Hopefully you will get your preferred option but there is a possibility you may be offered an on-campus alternative (e.g. a catered package if you asked for self-catered) in which case you will need to consider your options, bearing in mind that students can request to be reallocated once the term starts. The Accommodation Team will be on hand to advise.
Due to the demand for places in our halls of residence, it may be the case that you do not get on-campus accommodation, so be prepared for the possibility of finding housing between mid-August and the start of the course. Obviously this means some effort on your part – so be positive and persistent in looking for the best option available to you.
The University provides plenty of help, including opportunities to meet up with other 1st years to househunt together, workshops, transport and local knowledge.
