Introduction
Edge Hill University is committed to the sustainable management of waste to ensure legal compliance in a way that minimises environmental impact and promotes resource efficiency.
The University’s Environmental Management Strategy outlines our waste and recycling objectives and targets:
Objectives
- To significantly reduce our contribution to landfill by reducing volumes of waste produced and increasing reuse, recycling and resource recovery;
- To manage residual waste in accordance with best practice; and
- To ensure that waste is considered a resource by staff and students.
Targets
- To cut waste to landfill by 50% from a 2008/09 baseline by 2015
- To reduce carbon emissions from waste management by 40% from a 2008/09 baseline by 2015
