Teaching in a Secondary School
Educating young adults and being able to inspire them into sharing your passion for a particular subject is one of the main reasons why people choose to train as a secondary teacher. Good teaching requires enthusiasm to be combined with an ability to communicate clearly and break down complicated concepts into manageable building blocks for learning.
An understanding of how pupils of varying age ranges and abilities learn most effectively is important. Imagination is crucial, as is the need for patience and the ability to develop and sustain excellent relationships with pupils.
Seeing a child evolve into a mature and confident young adult throughout their time in secondary education, especially if also working as a form tutor, is something that teachers find particularly gratifying. Helping pupils to begin to shape an idea of their chosen vocation in life is a very powerful and rewarding responsibility for secondary teachers.
