Student Union
Edge Hill Students’ Union (EHSU) is a democratic membership organisation that represents the interests of all students at the university, its members.
You are automatically a member of the Students’ Union when you register on a course of study with Edge Hill University. EHSU gives students a voice and promotes positive change by lobbying the university and local, regional and national bodies to ensure you have the best possible student experience whilst at university. We work to improve both your educational and social experience. We provide a wide-range of activities for our members including sports and societies, academic advice & guidance, events, student representation, welfare, campaigns and much more.
The students’ union is run by students for students. This means that students, through the officers they elect and the activities they get involved in, make the decisions and ultimately decide the direction of their union!
Edge Hill Students’ Union is a member of the National Union of Students (NUS) which means that you are a member of NUS. If you would like to purchase a NUS Extra discount card which entitles you to discounts at shops and cinemas throughout the country, there is now two options.
You can either; come into the main SU office, purchase your card and walk away with it immediately or you can order it online at http://www.nus.org.uk/en/nus-extra/ and collect it from the SU once it has been delivered. An NUS Extra card cost £10, and a NUS Extra ISIC card cost £11, both are valid for one academic year.

Representation and Democracy
Representation and democracy is at the heart of everything we do. The union provides representation across the university for all students and in some cases for individual students and we are there to make sure that the student voice is heard. We are here for you and it only takes you to visit us and voice your issues to help turn it into an action.
We are a democratic organisation that has 14 elected officers, all here to help you. From sports societies to international students we are here to represent your views. It really is our job to represent YOU, the students, at meetings and discussions and we can’t do this without knowing what problems or comments you have. So, if you have anything to say, comment on good or bad come and let us know in the in the Students’ Union Executive Office, drop us an e-mail or give us a ring.
You will also have the opportunity to stand as a Course Rep and represent the views of your fellow students from your course of study. Each Course Rep is responsible for gathering feedback from students in order to improve the teaching and learning experience of that course. Meetings will be held within your department called ‘Student-Staff Consultative Forums’, giving you the chance to speak with academic members of staff about your feedback and how you can take positive steps forward together. You will receive training from the Students’ Union at the beginning of the year, as well as impartial advice and guidance throughout your role as a Course Rep.
