What is a Foundation Degree?
Foundation Degrees are qualifications that combine academic and workplace learning as they are designed in partnership with employers. Students can expect to be equipped with all the knowledge, understanding and skills relevant to their employment. Foundation Degrees allow students the opportuntity to continue their current employment whilst studying in order to improve their skills and job prospects. Many Foundation Degrees have flexible teaching arrangements, meaning that students are able to fit in study by part-time or evening attendance at college or university, through distance learning and learning via the internet.
Where can a Foundation Degree take me?
A number of students who undertake a Foundation Degree are already employed and use the qualification to get ahead in their chosen career. Foundation Degrees are also the ideal qualifiaction for those who are returning to work or who wish to pursue a new career. Foundation Degrees also offer students the chance to progress onto an Honours degree course that usually takes a further year to complete. Some professional qualifications can also be studied upon completion of the Foundation Degree.
How long does a Foundation Degree take to complete?
Foundation Degrees can be studied on both a full and part-time basis. A part-time student can complete the course over a three year period and a full-time course can be completed over two.
What are the entry requirements for a Foundation Degree?
Unlike other professional qualifications, there are no set entry requirements for a Foundation Degree. You could have just left school and want to further your education or maybe you dream of a career change and need the qualifications to set you on your way. Foundation Degrees are open to anyone and everyone and your application will be considered by Edge Hill who will then decide if you are eligible.

The cost of Foundation Degrees can vary from programme to programme and also depending on your individual circumstances.
