Primary PGCE: Programme Structure

Standard Primary PGCE - Single Pathway

Entry Criteria: Standard criteria. You will have spent at least 10 days in primary classrooms; you may have been a classroom assistant.
Length of training: 1 year, full-time.
Start of training: September.
Subject Modules: All modules, taught at Edge Hill. Mon, Tue and Fri, 1050 learning hours.
School Placements: All placements 95 days Wed, Thur plus blocks. Fixed dates.
Final Award: PGCE, recommended for QTS.

Entry Criteria: Standard, plus substantial, successful primary teaching experience and evidence of achieving many of the QTS standards. You may be a successful, unqualified primary class teacher with at least 2 years of full-time experience.
Length of training: Minimum of 1 term, full-time or flexible.
Start of training: Normally September.
Subject Modules: No modules, independent study as determined by Needs Assessment.
School Placements: Minimum 39-day final block, flexible dates.
Final Award: Recommended for QTS.

Entry Criteria: Standard, plus significant, successful school experience and progress towards the QTS Standards. You may be a successful primary teaching assistant or teacher in another age phase, with at least 1 year of full-time experience.
Length of training: 2 to 6 terms, full-time or flexible.
Start of training: Normally September.
Subject Modules: Modules as determined by Needs Assessment (normally all). Distance learning plus 8 days attendance. Up to 900 learning hours.
School Placements: 95 days normally. Flexible dates.
Final Award: PGCE (if all modules taken). Recommended for QTS.

Entry Criteria: Standard criteria. You will have spent at least 10 days in primary classrooms; you may have been a classroom assistant.
Length of training: 3, 4, 5 or 6 terms, full-time or flexible.
Start of training: September.
Subject Modules: All modules, taught at Edge Hill. 3 terms as standard PGCE; 4 terms Yr 1 Mon-Tue-Fri; 5 terms Yr 1 Mon-Tue & Yr 2 distance learning; 6 terms Yr 1 Mon-Tue & Yr 2 Fri.
School Placements: All placements 95 days. Placements undertaken at different times according to individual training plans.
Final Award: PGCE, recommended for QTS.
