Health Care Team

Janice Southern - Nursing Sister

Janice is a qualified nurse with over 20 years experience working in acute care in the NHS.  She is located in the Health and Well-being Centre, Milton House and is available for general advice on contraception, dietary and weight problems as well as general supportive help and treatment of minor injuries.  Janice would encourage anyone to see her if they are unsure about any health related issue.  Doctors from the Elms Practice hold a surgery 3 mornings a week in the Health and Well-being Centre for students who are registered with them.

Eileen Hunt - Administration Officer

Eileen works as Administration Officer in the Health and Well-being Centre located in Milton House.  If you need to book an appointment to see the Doctor, Family Planning Nurse or the Nursing Sister, or if you have any health issues with which you need help, do not hesitate to contact Eileen on 01695 657265.  If Eileen cannot help you directly, she will ensure that you receive assistance from the appropriate person.

Elaine Riley - Health Care Assistant

Elaine is a Health Care Assistant working with the Nursing Sister in the Health and Well-being Centre, Milton House.  If you need to book an appointment to see the Doctor, Family Planning Nurse or Nursing Sister, or if you have any health issues with which you need help, do not hesitate to contact Elaine on 01695 657265.

Counselling and Supervisory Services Team

Liz Diamond - Head of Counselling and Supervisory Services

Liz is a qualified and experienced counsellor, supervisor and trainer.  She is an accredited counsellor within the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy and has worked in the field for over twenty years.

As Head of Counselling and Supervisory Services, Liz is responsible for the operation and development of Counselling and Supervisory Services at Edge Hill.  This includes ensuring that the service is proactive, inclusive and innovative and that it is effective in contributing to the well being of students and staff within the University.

In order to achieve this, the counselling team appreciate ideas from individuals and groups that identify new areas for development as well as feedback on current services.

Peggy Fawcett - Counsellor

As a member of the University’s Counselling Team Peggy, along with other team members shares a breadth of knowledge and experience of working in the field of counselling and psychotherapy and has experience of working with a wide range of issues such as depression, anxiety, bereavement, eating disorders, alcohol and drug misuse.  All members of the team satisfy qualification criteria for professional practice in accordance with the requirements of the British Association for Counsellors and Psychotherapists (BACP) and have gained, or are working towards, accredited member status.

The team promote a solution focused philosophy to enhance the well-being of staff and students of the University.  One-to-one counselling, groupwork or tailored solution focused workshops are available.  Student initiatives include confidence building, procrastination, relaxation and social support groups.  Staff support is offered through bereavement group, food and mood workshops and relaxation sessions.  Peggy is committed to ensuring quality and effectiveness in her work with both staff and students and is proactive in taking opportunities to promote well-being across the University community.

Linda Lennon - Counsellor

Chris Bailey - Administrator/Receptionist

As a member of the University’s Counselling Team Chris is one of two part-time administrators that support the Counselling and Supervisory Services.  As the first point of contact for the service Chris deals with all appointment requests, enquiries and any issues relating to the day-to-day operations of the service as well as providing administrative support to the Counselling Team.  Chris can be contacted by telephoning 01695 650988 or by e-mailing counselling@edgehill.ac.uk.
