Christine Coleman – Director of Student Services
Edge Hill is a forward-looking University – and we’re proud of our strong tradition of encouraging learning and innovation amongst our students. This web page is your easy-to-use reference guide to all the services designed to support students during their time at Edge Hill University.
Providing the very best in support is a way of life for us – and it is imperative to ensure that everyone in the Edge Hill community can make the most of the opportunities for study and learning. We are committed to helping students help themselves – by equipping them with all the skills they will need for the future.
As you can imagine, being Director of Student Services at Edge Hill brings with it a great deal of responsibility. Here is a glimpse of my role and responsibilities:
- I manage all aspects of Student Services provision – to ensure all students get the best Edge Hill University experience they can!
- Every year we produce a new Student Handbook as well as revising important documents such as The Student Charter – to provide as up-to-date information as possible for everyone within the University.
- It’s important to have good communication with all our partners within the university – so I actively liaise with the Student Union on all aspects of student experience.
- I Co-Chair a lively forum called the Staff-Student Partnership Group – where we discuss topical issues that face both staff and students.
- Every year we gain important feedback from our students by way of the Student Satisfaction Survey – I operate and oversee its operation.
- Finance is a very important part of life to our students – and I oversee both the Access to Learning Fund as well as Chairing the Edge Hill Fund Committee.
- I enjoy getting as involved with students as possible – so you will doubtless see me taking an active role in the Firstweek student induction programme.
- I operate Equal Opportunities training – and oversee the Student Disciplinary Procedures and Code of Conduct.
BUT! My role doesn’t end there; I am also a member of our Senior Management Group and take an active role in all these committees!
- The Academic Board.
- Academic Quality Standards Committee.
- Facilities Management Group (Co-Chair).
- Equality, Widening Access and Student Support Committee.
- Student Union Community Action Management Group.
So as you can see, my daily routine is far from dull! My door is always open to students across Edge Hill – and if you would like to see me you can contact me through Joan Blee on extension 4395 (outside line – 01695 584395).
TELL US WHAT YOU THINK!
We are proud of our tradition for encouraging students to take an active part in the work of the University. We have formally elected representatives on various boards – so if you have a particular interest or want to learn more about how Edge Hill operates, GET INVOLVED!
Edge Hill is based on teamwork – so we welcome informal student comments too through the Staff / Student Partnership Group. As you go about campus you’ll doubtless come across suggestion boxes and questionnaires – remember we can’t change anything if we don’t have your views!
