Care Leavers
Are you a Care Leaver, if so, there is a huge amount of support available to you within Edge Hill University?
We recognise that starting a course at university and moving to a new place can be exciting, but also confusing. You may find you have a maze of information and procedures to deal with, that’s why we are committed to offering you extra support you might need throughout your time at university.
As a care leaver studying at Edge Hill you are entitled to:
- A room in the University Halls of Residence for 365 days a year for the 3 years of your degree course, if you want it.
- An annual bursary of £750 up to a maximum of three years
You could also be entitled to further funding through our Access to Learning Fund (ALF). ALF forms can be collected from the Finance and Welfare Team.
The support however doesn’t stop here! Joan Blee is your designated key contact while at Edge Hill. She can work with you offering guidance and support, to ensure you make the most of your time at University and complete your course successfully. Joan is the Administration & Support Manager of Student Services and can be found in the SIC Building.
If you don’t want to live in halls the Accommodation Team can also support you in your search for accommodation both during term time and during the vacation period. All these teams can be found in the Student Information Centre (SIC).
To ensure that you receive the support you are entitled to during your time at Edge Hill, make sure you come along to Student Services and make yourself known to Joan Blee.
Student Services is here to help you help yourself and contacting Joan couldn’t be easier. You can either call into Student Services, call her on 01695 584395 or email her on bleej@edgehill.ac.uk.
