Sport: Prospective Students
If sport is your passion, an Edge Hill University sports degree will enhance your employability and give you all the preparation you need for your future career.
We offer courses in sports studies, sport development, physical education, coaching, sport and exercise science, sports therapy and football rehabilitation.
Whatever your choice of programme, as a student in the Department of Sport and Physical Activity you’ll be joining a course designed to meet the needs of the sports industry, supported by some of the best facilities in Higher Education.
With a third of the Ormskirk campus given over to cutting edge sporting facilities, a strong emphasis is put on practical work. Sports students have access to dedicated psychology, biomechanics and physiology laboratories, an industry-standard dance studio, a sport and exercise rehabilitation centre and sports therapy clinic.
Our programmes are delivered by research-active, friendly and enthusiastic staff at the forefront of local, national and international developments in their specialist areas and across the sport industry as a whole. The department’s collective expertise is also shown through a consultancy service, delivering a variety of individual rehabilitation or team fitness programmes to sports teams including Wigan Athletic FC and Warrington Wolves RLFC.
You’ll graduate with a wide choice of future career options including:
- Sport development officer, working in partnerships with communities and developmental projects within sport.
- Sports therapist, working at local and international level with sporting organisations and clubs.
- Sports coach working with elite athletes, children or the community.
- PE teacher or an alternative role in the school workforce.
If you choose a career outside of sport, the transferable skills you acquire during your study will make you equally attractive to non-sport employers.
