SOLSTICE Research and Scholarship

The SOLSTICE team aims to enhance the impact of technology enhanced learning at Edge Hill University. We aim to achieve this by using research to inform innovation and development, and by all SOLSTICE-related activities being closely associated with, and generative of, research.

Research and scholarship is strongly anchored within the SOLSTICE method which deploys ‘intelligence-informed dialogues’ at the point of selection and deployment of technologies to support learning. The research strategy focuses on maximising the “fitness for purpose” of e-learning approaches and technologies for staff and students across the institution.

There are central questions which we are addressing as a function of the SOLSTICE research strategy. These are:

  • How do we and may we know that technology enhanced (‘e’) learning is effective?
  • How is innovation and change working and impacting?
  • How has CETL initiative contributed?
  • How will we ultimately know if change is positive and sustainable

Leadership for research is provided by senior academics and members of the SOLSTICE Learning and Teaching Fellowship.
