Nomination Scholarships: Jesse Jackson
The Jesse Jackson Scholarships have been designed to recognise and celebrate students' commitment and contribution to equality. They also reward those students who have never let their particular personal circumstances affect their ability to inspire and lead others.

All full-time students are eligible to apply.
Categories
- Teaching, Learning and Research - this category rewards an individual's outstanding contribution to promoting equality through their teaching, learning or research (E.g. research promoting our understanding of human rights and equality; a classroom project improving children's understanding of equality and anti-discrimination issues; a targeted educational campaign, designed to open up opportunities for specific minority or disadvantaged groups).
- Health and Wellbeing - this award is aimed at students who work tirelessly, perhaps for a voluntary organisation, to help improve understanding and access to health care and services of those in their local community, who are hard to reach and reluctant to engage in traditional service forms.
- Inspiration - targeted at students who have never let their particular personal circumstances affect their ability to achieve and in so doing inspire and lead others.
How do I apply?
There is no application process for our Jesse Jackson Scholarships.
A selection panel will judge nominations received from University staff who can download a nomination form[PDF]. Please note, this is a nomination form for staff only, not an application form.
You are encouraged to speak to your tutor or any member of staff from the University to discuss your individual situation and desire to be considered for the award. The deadline for nominations for 2012/13 Chancellor's Scholarships is Monday 28th May 2012.
If you are selected to receive a Jesse Jackson Scholarship you will be notified by the end of June 2012. Recipients will be invited to the Scholarships Presentation Evening in the autumn.
