Nomination Scholarships: Academic Achievement
Academic Achievement Scholarships reward part-time and full-time students for academic and personal achievement in their first year (level 4) of an undergraduate degree or foundation degree.
Scholarship Amount
- £500 one-off payment (on completion of level 4 modules).
Categories
- Academic Excellence - awarded to those full and part-time students achieving the highest average percentage mark in their Faculty;
- Personal Achievement - awarded to full and part-time students in recognition of personal achievement based on nominations from academic staff. Each Faculty has different criteria to reflect the personal student achievement they wish to recognise:
Faculty of Arts & Sciences
- Tom Titherington Scholarship - to recognise mature students' commitment and achievement on their programme of study;
- Pam Jackson Scholarship - to recognise students' success in adversity and commitment to complete their programme of study;
- Kate Titherington Scholarship - to recognise students' contribution to the wider community and public interest through voluntary activity broadly related to their programme of study.
Faculty of Education
- Alan G James Scholarship - to recognise academic excellence during placement achievement;
- Marjorie Roberts Scholarship - to recognise the development and implementation of innovative teaching and learning activities during placement;
- Sue Rogers Scholarship - to recognise involvement, dedication and contribution above and beyond the demands of the programme/ Department/ Area.
Faculty of Health and Social Care
- To recognise students' determination and commitment to the programme of study;
- To recognise students' progression and initiative shown to enhance their knowledge and development;
- To recognise students' success in adversity and their perseverance with the programme of study.
How to Apply
There is no application process for these scholarships.
Average percentage marks will be calculated automatically to decide the recipients of the Academic Excellence category.
Faculty panels will judge the Personal Achievement category based on nominations received from academic staff; you are encouraged to speak to your tutor to discuss your individual situation and desire to be considered for an award.
If you are selected to receive an Academic Achievement Scholarship you will be notified by the end of September 2012. Recipients will be invited to the Scholarships Presentation Evening in the autumn.
