Entrance Scholarships: Volunteering
- Volunteered with schools, charities or recognised volunteering organisations?
- Partipated in voluntary work that's benefited your local community?
- Have you taken the initiative to start your own voluntary project?
If you can demonstrate determination, commitment and achievement in volunteering whatever subjects you have studied, then this is the Entrance Scholarship for you. Edge Hill University is one of a very small number of institutions awarding scholarships specifically to students who are active volunteers.
How to Apply
To apply for a 2012/13 Volunteering Entrance Scholarship, download our application form (doc). You can get help completing your application by reading our guidance notes (doc).
The deadline for applying for 2012/13 Entrance Scholarships is Friday 15th June 2012.
The application process gives you an opportunity to tell us about your past achievements in volunteering, your future plans and how a scholarship would benefit you.
The judging panel will be keen to discover:
- How long you've participated in volunteering and the amount of time you commit to it;
- The type of volunteering activities you've taken part in over the last 3 years;
- The level of responsibility involved;
We will also take into account success achieved in adversity, where you have demonstrated excellence in volunteering and had to overcome exceptional circumstances.
It's essential to provide evidence to demonstrate your success by providing photocopies of any certificates or official letters where relevant. You must also choose a referee who will be asked to explain in a few paragraphs why they think you're a deserving recipient of an Entrance Scholarship.
