Theatre in the Quarter present Star of Wonder at the Rose Theatre. A magical music hall mystery story. Featuring magician Paul Dabek. Fabulous theatre for eveyone aged 7 plus!

Tickets £9.00 / £7.00 concessions

On Christmas Eve, in 1899, under the watchful eyes of a packed house in a local music hall, the impossible happened! The events of that night were witnessed at close hand by a young stage hand who later described the act of the magician known as the Star of Egypt, as ‘beguiling and puzzling', and her intriguing finale as ‘the greatest illusion ever'.

The Star of Egypt was a rare thing: a Victorian lady magician who was both alluring and mysterious.  In her grand tour of 1899, the Christmas Eve performance was her swan song - the stage hand watching from the wings later swore that this was a night in which the magic was real. Certainly those who witnessed it never forgot it, but they seldom spoke of it again...

Star of Wonder is a visually stunning, musical magical mystery for all ages. It features professional magician, Paul Dabek, and is created by the Theatre in the Quarter team (writer Helen Newall, Southampton's Nuffield Theatre director, Russ Tunney, and music director/composer Matt Baker) whose previous shows have enchanted audiences across the North West region.
