Being a postgraduate course it realistically prepares you for writing as a ‘career’, guiding you through each writing form in-depth, such as poetry, short stories and script writing.

“After completing my BA at Edge Hill, the University has almost become like a second home to me, and even though studying for an MA has been different to what I expected, I have been pleasantly surprised.

I’d definitely recommend this course to anyone who wishes to broaden their reading horizons and finds pleasure in the creative writing process. Being taught at a postgraduate level realistically prepares you for writing as a ‘career’, guiding you through each writing form in-depth, such as poetry, short stories and script writing.

At the moment, I’m also working as a part-time Librarian, and would love to start teaching my own creative writing group at the library. I submit poetry and edit a webzine and I’ll continue to do this after my MA as well as look into the possibility of doing a research degree at Edge Hill. My overall ambition is to teach creative writing at university level or maybe as enrichment at college level.

I was stunned when I recently won a Lancashire Writing Hub competition. I’m very particular about submitting my work for appraisal and so to have my poem ‘Older’ win was very exciting. Achieving this success has given me a lot of hope for the future – it really is encouragement in the best possible form.”
